NC/SC STMA Members and Southeast Regional Sports Turf Conference Attendees,

Promoting the Certified Sports Field Manager(CSFM) program continues to be a yearly priority of the NC STMA and SC STMA. We proudly host a CSFM exam at our yearly conference. As you may be aware, the 2020 SERSTC in Myrtle Beach was cancelled along with the CSFM exam offered onsite. Since the cancellation, the SERSTC Committee has worked with the NC STMA and SC STMA on an alternative plan for the CSFM exam.

The NC/SC STMA chapters and the SERSTC are proud to announce that we will continue to offer the Certified Sports Field Managers (CSFM) exam in 2020.

CSFM Committee Chair and exam proctor Will Rogers, National STMA President Jimmy Simpson, and myself are developing a plan to continue administering the exam while practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dates, locations, and execution of the exam will depend on those wishing to achieve CSFM certification in 2020. The dates, locations, and execution will depend greatly on those wishing to achieve CSFM certification in 2020.

Those interested in taking the exam should contact the STMA and must pre-qualify.  Once the STMA has a list of eligible sports field managers, we can then determine logistics of administering the exam. More information about the CSFM certification process can be found at STMA - CSFM Program.  If you have questions about the CSFM exam or process for pre-qualifying you may contact Will Rogers at

The NC/SC STMA Chapter Officers, Board Members, and Conference Committee encourage you to consider this important credential provided by the STMA.

The CSFM accreditation program's purpose is to:

Increase professionalism in the sports turf industry
Promote better and safer sports turf surfaces
Establish credentials that signify a specific level of expertise
Provide recognition for attaining a level of expertise and performance as professionals in the industry

We look forward to seeing you at a CSFM exam in the near future.
